The NEW TRC Vento from Veredus

'They work brilliantly! Convinced and Converted'

  •

''I have conducted an experiment today. I tacked up my horse and put one 'ordinary' neoprene brushing boot on one leg and the TRC Vento on the other, then went for an hour's hack. On taking off the boots, the neoprene was clammy inside and the horse's leg was warm and sticky. The inside of the TRC Vento felt the same as when I had put it on and the horse's leg was cool. They work brilliantly! I am convinced and converted.''

Kristina Sprehe Sponsored by Uvex

  •
The World Number Two German Dressage rider 27 year old Kristina Sprehe is now sponsored by uvex riding helmets and sports eyewear.  Kristina comes from the famous Sprehe equestrian dynasty, and it was her cousin Jorne Sprehe who introduced uvex to the equestrian market just four years ago.

This exceptionally talented rider has enjoyed notable successes such as Team Silver at the Olympic Games in London and European Gold in Herning, Denmark. Kristina very first won Gold in 2002 at the Pony European Dressage Championships.

Kristina is a passionate advocate of helmet awareness, and believes in always putting her helmet on, and setting an exemplary example for others.   Just because it is dressage, it is not any less vital than when riding cross country.  She says “Many serious injuries could be avoided, just with this simple action”. Tragically in the supposedly ‘staid’ discipline of dressage this is being proved time and time again, with Fiona Bigwood recently suffering a severe head injury.

Kristina trains in Oldenburg on her 13 year old black Hanoverian stallion Desperados with her uncle and will be working closely together with the Design and Development Team at uvex, identifying ways in which to improve and advance products for riders of the future.

"We are proud to work with such a successful athlete" said Falk Pewestorf, MD of the uvex sports group. "Kristina Sprehe embodies equestrian success and will be a vital member of the uvex Team”.

uvex and Zebra Products now sponsor over 50% of both the German and British Medal Winning Dressage Teams between them, including Laura Tomlinson and Michael Eilberg and are at the forefront of supplying riders with helmets that they want to wear, and not just have to wear.

Recent moves by so many leading riders across the disciplines who are voluntarily deciding to wear standard safety helmets as opposed to the ‘old hat’ top hats is a triumph of sensibility over vanity.

New Sprenger SENSOGAN® HS Weymouth

New From Sprenger

Sprenger have launched the HS Weymouth in their new and totally unique metal called SENSOGAN®.

  •

It is the distinctive composition of Copper, Manganese and Zinc that makes SENSOGAN® so special. The reduced copper content combined with the manganese results in a more regulated process of oxidation. Manganese is known to assist with building up connective tissue as well as for muscle and energy metabolism, it is also known to reduce histamine and can help prevent skin reactions Tests with the veterinary college of Hannover and the German Riding School in Warendorf showed without doubt this combination of metals has a positive influence on the horse’s satisfaction, motivation and willingness to perform.

The Sprenger SENSOGAN® HS Weymouth has a slight port that offers space for the tongue without squeezing the sensitive palate. The mouthpiece curves around the tongue in a smooth bow and is an ideal choice for horses that have issues with taking up a contact. By making this bit available in SENSOGAN® Sprenger have given riders an even more delicate and sophisticated connection to the horse.

The most popular lower cheek size is 7cm, although it is also available in a 5cm cheek which has direct and quicker action. Sprenger ask riders to ensure that they measure their horse accurately for a weymouth – it must fit exactly in the horse’s mouth and the cheeks must be close to the side of the horse’s mouth. The choice of bradoon will depend on the horse – but must be ½ - 1cm larger than the weymouth.

The SENSOGAN® HS Weymouth has a discreet and elegant look and due to the material mix, SENSOGAN® does not tarnish easily as the chewing activity of the horse is optimally supported. The bit will stay true to its white gold colour for much longer and can also be polished to a high shine at any point in its lifetime. The new SENSOGAN® range is identified by its unique stamped black ring on the cheeks of the mouthpieces. The cheeks for this new bit can be in either Stainless steel or Aurigan to match the bradoon and metal work on the bridle.

So switch to SENSOGAN® and feel the difference for yourself….

Sam’s Determination Keeps Pony Ed Fit and Happy

  •
Now 15-years-old, Welsh Section A pony, Ed first experienced laminitis at the age of five and his devoted owner Sam Bull has done everything in her power ever since to keep him happy and comfortable.
Sam first came across Ed when a friend bought a host of foals from the sales and she was asked if she could keep an eye on them.
Said Sam: “Ed was in a stable with two other ponies who bullied him so much he literally jumped into his haynet and got stuck.
“Fortunately I was there and able to cut him down and when he was free he came running over to me and put his head in my arms.
“With that I just had to have him and bought him aged five-and-a-half months just weaned.”
Sam originally purchased him with the plan of finding him a nice home but she quickly became attached and he has been with her ever since as a companion to her horses.

Standing just 11.3hh, Sam has always kept a close watch on Ed’s weight and never expected him to get laminitis.
Adds Sam: “I first noticed Ed was standing with the typical laminitis stance but initially if I kept him in for two days it would go. He wasn’t overweight or anything and it soon went away.
“Ed could be fine one minute and half an hour later he was terrible. I decided to keep a diary and asked the vets to carry out a blood test which showed his insulin was very high and he was diagnosed with Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS).
“For the last five summers he has been really well and it is only the last two winters where the problem flared up again and his hooves became really sensitive.”

The Uvex Supersonnix Helmet

The uvex supersonnix is designed for children and their growing developing head shapes, in a range of styles, colours and designs that appeal. They weigh approx. 335g, and have a ventilation system which funnels air over the top of the head.

  • Click to enlarge image uvex_supersonic_S43332205.jpg
  •

Uvex have created and patented an IAS 3D system which adjusts to both your head size and shape, enabling you to have the helmet style that you truly want, that is not restricted by the currently traditional rigid shell shape.  Very often you do see that riders wanting a particular style of helmet sacrifice the fit for the look that they want, thereby compromising their own safety.  This does not happen with uvex helmets.

The free floating design of the  IAS 3D ring system means that it adjusts not only around the circumference of the head by means of operating a dial, but also internally over the top of the head, therefore altering the depth of the fit to suit either shallow foreheads or deep foreheads.  This very much works in favour of the retailer as well as the customer because they only need to stock approximately a third of the volume of helmets to cater for the same number of clients, reducing the space needed in their shop, and their financial outlay, allowing for a wider variety of different products to browse through.

Because the helmet adjusts, this means the fit is better and in no way compromised by the changing needs and size of a maturing skull, or a changing hairstyle.    Parents also no longer have the same financial barrier to ensuring the safety and protection of their child, because the helmet alters.  And of course the fact that the helmet can be adjusted means that parents with sibling and subsequent friends and just the one pony do not have to risk the dangers of compromise with a one shape-one size helmet.  The adjustability allows for more consistent protection.

The scenario where parents ask for ‘a helmet they can grow into’ demonstrates perfectly why uvex have spent so much time, money and effort on extensive research throughout the arenas of all extreme sports to provide a 3D  adjustable cost effective solution for head protection and safety.

With the advent of the uvex helmet the days of ‘buying a second hat riding hat’ are that much closer to being at an end.  And surely something that everyone should be celebrating now that the solution to an age old problem has been presented.

Finally, the ventilation system in the very lightweight uvex helmets, which actively pulls air over the head and funnels it away, means that the days of ‘Helmet Hair’ are well and truly over.  Historically this and the weight of a helmet has been a barrier to small children willingly putting their headgear on.

Sadly we cannot educate all of the members of the General Public, who may ‘think it’s fine to share a hat’ but the magazines, the retailers, the industry as a whole,  and the manufacturers are doing their utmost to circumvent accidents,  and to educate, protect and prevent through design.

  •

In addition the supersonnix can be accessorised by uvex flashing lights that are affixed with clips to the shell of the helmet.  These are battery operated and can be set to flash intermittently, therefore meaning that they work as a visual safety aid, provide light to see the way, and also a means of easily locating each other on dark nights.  These are available at approx. RRP £6.50 each.

Available in sizes 49 – 52 cm and 52 – 55cm.  RRP: £119.00 - £129.00
